We are passionate about Northumbria-North East England.
AGM and the future of the Association

The Northumbrian Association held its Annual General Meeting this morning, 3 February 2021. Due to current restrictions the meeting was online. Alongside the normal business the agenda included an item on the future of the Association. The meeting approved the following two resolutions:

1 That members approve the dissolution of the Northumbrian Association
2 That any remaining funds following wind up of the charity be donated to the Northern Saints walking trails project.

Members present took the opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the Association. They paid tribute to the founding group of passionate Northumbrians that built a network of supporters and played such a significant role in the campaign for the return of the Lindisfarne Gospels to the North East. All achieved with limited resources and driven by their enthusiasm and commitment.

Following the dissolution of the Association arrangements have been made to continue the annual walk from Chester-le-Street to Durham to mark St Cuthbert's Day and the annual Hotspur Award; two regular activities in the Association calendar.

Thanks were recorded to all who had supported the Association over the years and the hope expressed that there will be opportunities in future for people to come together to celebrate and promote the heritage of Northumbria and the North East of England.

We are a registered Charity run by local volunteers.
