The votes have been cast, and now the countdown begins to this weekend's inaugural Creative North-East Awards.
On Saturday night hundreds of people will be at the Baltic in Gateshead for a glittering ceremony that aims to celebrate the creativity of the region and highlight some of its most outstanding artistic achievements.
The event is being held in aid of the No Strings charity, which uses puppets to educate children on social issues, and one of its patrons, the actor Neil Morrissey, will be hosting the event.
For the past few weeks, the public have been nominating and voting in eight categories including best architecture, best use of public space, best writer, best performance piece and most creative approach to service. Now a panel of industry experts will select the winners.
The awards ceremony is expected to attract a host of North-East celebrities and sports stars to the Baltic on Saturday.
A fundraising raffle will be held at the event, with prizes including a cast jacket from The Full Monty (courtesy of No Strings patron Hugo Speer, who starred in the film), a chance to be a character in a Viz cartoon and socks signed by Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney.
All the money raised from ticket sales and the raffle will go towards No Strings projects.
Tickets for the awards dinner and an after-show party at the Copthorne Hotel on Newcastle's Quayside cost £40 and tickets for the hotel bash only cost £10. Back to Archive |
